GREEN MOVE IN THE BAG

Beijing will ban the use of non-degradable plastic packaging by express delivery outlets by the end of this year. The move comes amid China's efforts to control plastic pollution, the Beijing Commission of Development and Reform said in late April. To reduce the use of non-degradable plastic products, delivery outlets in the city will be prohibited from using single-use plastic woven bags, according to the commission. By the end of 2022, digital waybills, packaging tape narrower than 45 millimeters and recyclable bags will basically cover the whole courier sector in the city.

The move comes in celebration of the first Hunan Tourism Conference, which is scheduled to open in the second half of June in Zhangjiajie city. It is also expected to spur a recovery in tourism, according to the scenic area.
